This inaugural editorial introduces the aims, intellectual foundations, and editorial orientation of Collective Intelligence Perspectives (CIP). It develops a systemic understanding of collective intelligence as an emergent capacity constituted through informational processes, structural relations, communication, feedback, and adaptation within and between collective systems. Building on systems science, cybernetics, and perspectives on communicative and inferential processes, the editorial argues for dialogue, critical exchange, and reflexivity as essential conditions for developing knowledge about complex collective phenomena. It outlines CIP's commitment to transdisciplinary discourse, epistemic plurality, tolerance for ambiguity, and diverse forms of scholarly expression, including essays, conversations, and multimedia contributions. The editorial positions CIP as a discursive community intended to connect perspectives across disciplines and between scholarship, practice, and wider society, thereby contributing to collective learning and adaptation.
